The BIG EYE Harmony

Updated: May 13, 2024

Today’s topic has been an intriguing one for most of us. It may be the most confusing as well.  The question of all questions - “How do I focus on the eye for detail when I am supposed to be looking at the big picture?” Dichotomy, isn’t it?

Let’s explore.  Look at today’s image on the Zine.  It shows a coloured face and an eye.  If I were to ask you to draw it (assuming that you are a great artist and you have all the skills to reproduce this image on a canvas) how would you like to approach the same.

You will look at the BIG PICTURE first, observe for a long time, draw a few rough lines on the canvas to pen down the perspective you see.  Post that, you would start picking up colours, tools and brushes that you would need to paint the image.

Now starts the magic of the eye, your EYE FOR DETAIL.  Before you start with your brushes, your eyes would wander all around the image and start picking up bigger, smaller and smallest details on the image.  After a few hours of zooming in and zooming out on the image, you would be able to draw the image to perfection or even better.

Now let’s take this analogy to the corporate world and the question at the beginning of the zine. “How do I focus on the eye for detail when I am supposed to be looking at the big picture?”  Answer to this question lies in the secret of considering the two phrases not as opposites but as complementary.  They have to work in harmony with each other to achieve the desired outcomes. You have to keep the focus on the big picture and keep working through the milestones, tasks and activities with precision so that the end result is achieved.

The beauty lies in the details while perspective lies in the big picture

Hope you have a harmonious week ahead, with your big picture in focus and eye for detail in your actions.
