Billion Flowers

There are billion n billion of flowers in the world. They live their lives and vanish. Some vanish in few hours, some in few days but they all do vanish. Just a quick disclaimer: I am not relating them to our lives, that we will also vanish one day. That is the reality and yes, we all will vanish just like flowers.

Today, I want to relate it to recognition, appreciation or belonging to those circles. We all like being recognized and appreciated, whether it is at personal or professional level. And reality is that not every time we get recognized. Just like, those billion of flowers, where all are not recognized or appreciated. But that doesn't mean that they haven't done what they were supposed to do, as part of their living self. It is true for us as well, not every time we would get recognized and appreciated for our work or deeds, but it's ok, to be ok with that and look forward to another day.

At one of the low points in my career, I was talking to my mentor on not being recognized or appreciated for work I do and she said, "Kiran at times people don't appreciate your work that doesn't mean good work becomes bad." Like all flowers don't get admired by people, but that doesn't stop them from blossoming." Her words stuck with me and today I focus on blossoming as a person as a professional rather than just focussing on being appreciated for my work. Today, I am confident because I know I make a difference, it is beautiful to see others gaining from my good work, then just being recognized on the stage. I am like those billion of flowers who may be unnoticed, but beautiful, valuable and happy.
